Pro Finish for T1-11

Schedule Paint Doctors Painting for soon after the siding is installed.

According to the The Engineered Wood Association, real wood surfaced siding comes in several configurations including reverse board and batten, T1-11, and channel groove.

Weather can cause damage to the raw products within a few weeks so schedule Paint Doctors Painting for soon after the siding is installed. The APA recommends an all-acrylic latex house paint system of primer and topcoat.

We know the prep and application techniques to finish your T1-11 type siding for long lasting protection and beauty. Getting proper penetration and thorough coverage requires experience and extra work – often a combination of spray and back rolling because of the texture of the wood fibers.

Repaint should be done before the surface shows deterioration and peeling. If UV and weather damage are present it may take some extra work to get the walls prepped for paint. We can explain these details after looking at your building.

2021 Color of the Year: Urbane Bronze

Tap into nature with a hue whose warmth and comfort breathe down-to-earth tranquility. The Sherwin-Williams 2021 Color of the Year, Urbane Bronze, captures that simple sophistication every space is searching for.

Find Your Sanctuary

Now more than ever, our homes have become the backdrop to our lives, reminding us that the moments worth cherishing have always been right in front of us. As we’re looking to create the ultimate retreat for reflection and renewal, we’re turning to a hue whose natural simplicity and nature-inspired energy cultivate a sense of calm from the ground up.

Rooted in Nature

The trend for biophilia continues to shape our spaces, proving that nature is never far away. Urbane Bronze might be a color rooted in nature, but it also has a unique ability to ground a room through organic appeal. Whether it’s accentuating window trims or accent walls, this warm hue draws from nature for a feeling of relaxation and serenity. It also works well with other biophilic elements including, light-filled spaces and foliage.

Coordinating Colors & Materials

Bold and understated, our Color of the Year is the new neutral that can be used wherever and however. Pair it with other warm neutrals and bone whites, like Modern Gray, to create an updated take on minimalism. If you want to bring in more color, modern greens, like Messenger Bag, can be introduced to add a hint of bolder style. Complete either look with natural materials like wood finishes, stone accents, and mixed metals that tie these earthy neutrals back to their nature-inspired roots.

Sheen

When you are choosing your paint color be prepared to the answer the question of sheen, which is how shiny of dull you want your finished product. High-sheen (glossy) surfaces are typically easier to keep clean. These paint formulations traditionally produce the toughest and most stain-resistant finishes – that’s why high-gloss finishes are common in bathrooms, high-traffic areas and kids’ rooms. On the down side, glossy surfaces draw attention to even the smallest flaws in the texture of the wall. If the intention is to hide or downplay a space, high-sheen paint should be avoided.

Most brands of paint come in several sheens, and both latex and oil-based paints are available in different sheen levels. Gloss sheens have the highest light-reflective characteristics. Next are semigloss sheens; then satin, eggshell, or low-lustre sheens; and then flat or matte sheens.
