Signs Your Home Needs a Fresh Coat of Paint

Visual Signs of Paint Failure

  • Peeling, Cracking, or Bubbling Paint: These indicate the paint is failing to adhere to the surface and is no longer providing protection.
  • Fading Color: A significant change in color shows that the paint has been damaged by UV rays and weather.
  • Stains and Discoloration: Stubborn water stains, mold, or mildew that can’t be washed off suggest the paint has lost its protective qualities.
  • Chalking: When the paint disintegrates, it leaves a fine, chalky powder on your hands when you touch the surface.
  • Deteriorating Caulking: Cracks in the caulking around windows and trim can allow moisture to seep in, causing damage.
  • Visible Gaps: Gaps or shrinking wood can indicate movement in the structure, and damaged paint can’t adequately protect these areas.

If any of these symptoms describe the exterior finish of your house, you’re going to need a new paint job to protect your investment. Call Mike 541-497-3804

How Sherwin-Williams Does COTM

Every month here on the Doctor’s blog we feature Sherwin-Williams Color of the Month (COTM). Here’s how they choose the color and the coordinating colors that go with it:

Each year, the Sherwin-Williams Trendsight Team, a group of experts in color and design, come together to map out the Colormix® Forecast – a collection of carefully chosen hues that predicts what’s in for the months ahead. From those palettes, we spotlight stand-out shades to feature as Color of the Month.

Sherwin-Williams color experts select a star shade to set the tone for the month.
A palette of beautifully-paired colors is crafted to help bring our color story to life.
See it all come together in collections that capture every nuance of design and style.

Going Coastal Again

As much as we love the Oregon Coast, it can be brutal on exterior finishes, which is one of the many reasons more coastal property owners are calling the Paint Doctor to protect and beautify their houses and businesses. Surface preparation is always a high priority, which is why we don’t squeeze that paint gun trigger until the project is really ready. Coastal environments often require extra attention in minor repairs, in handling mold and mildew, in rust removal and in peeling paint mitigation. And caulking, you better believe we know that rain and salt spray can come at your building from every possible angle.

If you want a top quality paint job using coast-ready products applied by professional painters familiar with your environment, call the Paint Doctor, 541-497-3804

Ocean View Made New

This coastal house takes its views very seriously with a western wall of glass. However, there was plenty of exterior space that needed protection from the weather with a quality paint job. Frequent storms, prevailing winds, salt air, rain and ultra violet exposure with hardly a protective overhang in sight means careful planning and meticulous execution in prep and product application.
