Northern Exposure

Here in the Willamette Valley mildew can form on the north side of houses due to the lack of direct sunlight, which keeps the surface cooler and moister. Less sunlight means slower evaporation, which helps the surface stay damp longer promoting mildew growth. Mildew mitigation is an important step when preparing to paint the exterior of your home. One solution? Wash with a solution of TSP.

TSP Safety

  • Protective gear: It’s a good idea to wear eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, and long sleeves and pants.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the area is well-ventilated, especially when working indoors.
  • Protect surfaces: TSP can damage some surfaces, including metal fixtures and glass. Use plastic sheeting to protect areas you do not want to clean.
  • Mixing: Add TSP powder to warm water, not the other way around, to prevent splashing. Typical dilutions range from 1/4 to 1/2 cup of TSP per gallon of warm water, depending on the job.
  • Rinse thoroughly: After cleaning, rinse the surface multiple times with clean water to remove all TSP residue. If not completely rinsed, it can leave a white film.
  • Protect landscaping: If using TSP outdoors, take care to protect plants from runoff by hosing them down with fresh water both before and after applying the solution.

Choosing the Vibe of Your Interior Colors

Color is more than just a design choice—it’s a reflection of personality, mood, and lifestyle. Let’s explore what different colors might be saying as you enter a room.

🔵 Blue: Calm, Trustworthy, and Thoughtful

Blue is a favorite for bedrooms and bathrooms because it evokes serenity and stability. Soft blues or navy tones bring a sense of peace, order, and introspection. It’s also a color that builds trust—no wonder it’s popular in professional settings too.

🔴 Red: Bold, Passionate, and Energetic

Red walls make a statement. Whether it’s a deep burgundy in the dining room or a cherry accent wall, red signals confidence and vitality. It’s often chosen by those who love entertaining and aren’t afraid to stand out.

The Curb Appeal of Fresh Paint

First impressions matter—especially when it comes to your home’s curb appeal. Whether you’re looking to increase property value, attract potential buyers, or simply take pride in your residence, a fresh exterior paint job can completely transform the way your home is perceived.

The Power of a Fresh Coat

Over time, exposure to the elements can make exterior paint fade, crack, or peel. A new paint job instantly revitalizes your home, giving it a clean, polished look that makes it stand out in the neighborhood.

Benefits of a Well-Painted Exterior:

  • Boosts Property Value – Homes with updated exteriors tend to sell faster and at higher prices.
  • Enhances Visual Appeal – A fresh color scheme can modernize your home and complement its architecture.
  • Protects Against the Elements – High-quality paint acts as a barrier against moisture, UV rays, and other environmental factors that can cause damage.

Choosing the Right Color

Selecting the perfect exterior color is key to maximizing curb appeal. Neutral tones like greys, beiges, and whites provide timeless elegance, while deeper hues like navy or forest green add sophistication. Want a pop of personality? A bold front door can make a memorable statement.

A Small Investment with Big Results

Refreshing your home’s exterior paint is one of the most cost-effective ways to enhance curb appeal. It’s a project that makes an immediate impact while protecting your home for years to come.

If your home’s exterior is looking tired, a fresh coat of paint could be the perfect solution. Ready to transform your curb appeal?

The Power of Paint

Ever walked into a freshly painted room and felt an instant mood boost? That’s no coincidence—color has a profound impact on our emotions, energy, and overall well-being. A fresh coat of paint isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a space that supports mental clarity, relaxation, and productivity.

Color Psychology: The Secret to a Happier Home

Different colors evoke different emotional responses, making your choice of paint more important than you might realize. For example:

  • Blues and Greens – These hues promote calmness and relaxation, perfect for bedrooms or home offices.
  • Yellows and Oranges – Energetic and cheerful, warm tones bring vitality to kitchens and living spaces.
  • Neutrals – Whites, grays, and beiges provide a sense of balance and sophistication, creating a clean slate for creativity.

The Refresh Effect

Beyond color selection, the simple act of repainting can refresh your environment and mindset. Dull, fading walls can subconsciously drag down your mood, while a crisp new layer of paint can make your space feel brighter, cleaner, and more inviting.

A Productivity Boost

Working from home? Studies show that an intentional use of color can increase focus and efficiency. Soft blues and greens enhance concentration, while subtle pops of energizing colors can keep motivation high.

Transform Your Space, Transform Your Mind

A fresh paint job is more than just an upgrade—it’s an investment in your mental well-being. Whether you’re repainting an entire home or adding an accent wall, the right colors can inspire positivity, relaxation, and creativity. Ready to breathe new life into your space? Call Mike at 541-497-3804

Church Painting

Having an attractive, well maintained property shows the community you are committed to quality and that you care about them by taking care of the way your neighborhood looks. An attractive paint job plays a major role in this aspect of your community outreach.

Church Painting

A quality paint job not only improves your church’s testimony in the community, it is also good stewardship because it protects the investment your church body has made on the property.

Although most of us recognize that the people (and not the building) are the church, in many ways the building represents the church body in the community. Having an attractive, well maintained property shows the community you are committed to quality and that you care about them by taking care of the way your neighborhood looks. An attractive paint job plays a major role in this aspect of your community outreach.

In addition to the appearance, properly applied paint also protects your building by providing a barrier against water and UV damage. Most exterior building materials were designed to have a protective covering of paint. Without up-to-date paint protection, these materials are susceptible to damaging water intrusion as well as to ultraviolet light damage. Both of these factors can greatly shorten the life expectancy of your church exterior.

In addition to damage to the exterior, water can get into the framing, insulation, sheetrock and carpet causing rot or mold issues. Paint really does protect.

As a church leader, you will be faced with decisions about how to proceed with getting the paint protection your property needs. Hopefully you will be able to navigate questions of body and trim color without too much trouble. But what about the actual labor to get the job done. Here’s why we think volunteers may not be the way to go for this task:

  1. A quality paint job is just as much about preparing the surfaces as it is about applying the paint. Loose and peeling paint need to be removed, a job that requires a specific skill set not to mention that the debris can end up in flower beds, on sidewalks and on parking lots. Ever try to clean up paint flakes and old caulking?
  2. Church buildings are bigger than you think. Reaching gables, bell towers, spires, crosses and cupolas can be difficult and dangerous especially without the proper equipment. How is your liability insurance?
  3. A church painting project can take months when relying on volunteers. Our estimators can provide you with a completion date and our large, experienced crew can complete the job quickly.
